Guest Lecture: Dr Anchrit Wille, 'The Normalization of the European Commission: Politics and Bureaucracy in the EU Executive'
We would like to invite you to the guest lecture by Dr. Anchrit Wille,
'The Normalization of the European Commission: Politics and Bureaucracy in the EU Executive'
Thursday November 20th, 11am – 1pm
@ Aula AV 02.17.
Anchrit Wille is a lecturer at The Hague Campus of Leiden University. She obtained her doctoral degree in political science from the University of Amsterdam. In 2013 she published ‘The Normalization of the European Commission: Politics and Bureaucracy in the EU Executive’ at Oxford University Press.
The European Commission is becoming more like a regular government. Due to revisions in the European treaties and internal reforms of the civil service, the European Commission is acquiring many of the organizational features and behavioural patterns that are highly typical of ‘normal’ executives in national settings. This is the main conclusion of the research. The study relies on a large number of in-depth interviews with top officials and commissioners working at the European Commission.
